Website: lost, and found.

So, on Sunday, December 12, 2021 I logged into my account, and managed to completely nuke my website. I do suspect it was me trying to “fix” / dismiss a SSL warning, and some configuration got messed up in the process. Now, i’m not into web dev, and I can google my way around, but my first reaction was to just ‘reset’ the server, and start fresh.

This is where I start to panic a little, because firstly I have never actually restored a website with WordPress before, and secondly what happened to the backups I made before? uh oh…I spent three years working on this website on, and off trying to get it somewhat functional, and to my liking, and I thought I lost it all in the blink of an eye.

Luckily, I did have two backups from February, and August of this year, and not all was lost. Restoring the backup on the other hand was a bit of a learning process, but all I did was simply ‘drag, and drop’ ( I say simply, but I was researching for hours) the wordpress backup files onto the file server. In hindsight this seems a bit easier now, but at the time I was in full panic mode. I guess the moral of this story is ALWAYS HAVE BACKUPS.
